Talk about PERFECT timing! Yesterday I did a little photo session with a beautiful momma and daughter... Its getting colder here in Colorado, but yesterday was amazing-the sun was out and the chilly weather stayed far away. Well I've always admired "iheartfaces" for what they have done for both new and established photographers...and I've always watched from afar and read up on blogs, entries and stories. Well this morning, I saw their post on FB and thought no way! I just got some adorable pictures of this beautiful little girl "being little" by twirling around in her tutu, and thought I HAVE to submit this. If anything, everyone can see how cute she is with her panda shirt and matching shoes! :)

Adriana + Ryan

These two cuties are also new to Colorado!! We meet at the dog park, and when I saw Adriana's belly and cute face I immediately approached her to ask if she had a photographer. I had to get these two and her perfect belly in front of my camera!! Weeks later, we meet up near Garden of the Gods for our session, the sun kept hiding behind the clouds and I think we got a few drops of rain on us...but as you can see in the last few frames, it made for a great backdrop. These two were so funny, and so adorable-Ryan was all hands on Adriana :) and you can tell he's a proud poppa! Adriana and Ryan had their baby girl, she's healthy and tiny!! Congrats you two, thank you for being so fun and Rowen is adorable looking!!

Time for a Change

Well last night The Hub and I watched a movie and it motivated me to do a fruit and veggie fast! I've been feeling dumpy and out of shape, and haven't been happy with my food choices...and I knew something had to change. I thought this 30 DAY juice challenge would be perfect, because I couldn't make an excuse and eat something that was "healthy" or "not THAT bad". It was either fruit or veggies, so if its not that-I can't have it. So this morning I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and got a Breville juicer. This is DAY_1 of the challenge. You can see my current weight below, and I'm only 5'2" so that is tubby for me. Anyway point is, I want to be healthy like I used to be, and I want to lose some pounds!! :) So pros and cons to juicing.

1. Pro, fruit is beautiful!! and smells amazing
2. Con, the juicer is SO messy. boo.
3. Pro, its different and new-so its fun :)
4. Con, its not convenient..I'm already wondering about how I'm going to do lunch at work. My mom suggested freezing the fruit the night before...but the bad thing is, you lose some of the enzymes. Time will tell
5. Pro, I hope to drop a good amount of weight-fast!
6. Con, all I do is think about food lol...i think this is going to be mostly mental
7. Pro, so far the juice i have eaten has filled me up. a lot!
8. Con, No coffee!! NO. COFFEE. ahh!
9. Pro, pretty easy clean up, and no trash...well only fruit peels

Below you can see the fruits and veggies in all their beauty and color...and don't be fooled by the way the juice looks! The veggies were not quite as yummy as the fruit!

The 30 days end on 31 Oct, 2011...so I'll let you know how everything goes.

this was breakfast...it was pretty good and carrots are surprisingly sweet.

this was dinner, I was NOT happy with it ha ha. it was so pretty looking, but that's about it...I did make the mistake of juicing the beet's leafs... I won't make that mistake again.

So excited to share...my new website is almost done!! The amazing Ryan is not only designing my website, but has also completed and refined my logo. His flash work is out. of. this. WORLD. And I fell in love with his work years ago. I kept putting off my branding business face-lift because of silly reasons, or fear or cost or lack of time...so recently I searched around for web designers and kept being pulled back to Ryan's work. I can NOT wait till you see what's in store!!

THE Lange's... I've known Matt for more then 10 years, so when I meet Brandi-his now wife-I KNEW they were like two skinny peas in a pod. Perfect for each other, perfect looking with each other, and then they produced some perfect looking kidos. I'm SO thankful I have such a good friendship with this family and I can't wait to see their family grow in love and in size, and watch their beautiful kids grow up. Thanks for dealing with me yesterday, on our crazy photo-shoot!!

An Elephant for my Birthday!

Okay, so I didn't really get an elephant for my birthday...but The Hub surprised me with a One-on-One with an elephant from the Colorado Zoo. Her name was Lucy. She painted for me, and let me clean her feet. Which by the way, were larger then my HEAD! We celebrated my birthday a few days earlier, because my birthday was during the week day. I must say, this surprise was one of the best gifts ever. I can be picky with "gifts" and I'm not much of a gift gal, I rather quality time. I know, i'm an odd bird. Well if you know me, I LOVE animals-like love them...I wanted to take Lucy home with me, or at least hug her leg like a monkey. Neither happened, but a girl can dream. I think I talked about Lucy and elephants for the next few days after seeing her. Did you know they have tail hair!? Not dinky soft hair, but like weed whacker plastic sized hair!! For those that don't know what that looks like, its like plastic the width of say half the diameter of a q-tip handle. We got to hold a piece of it, just shows how LARGE these guys were. Anyway it was the best time at the zoo, and we ended the day in downtown at a cute restaurant named Shuga's. I love that place, one of a kind sandwiches, Italian sodas and totally adorable decor. The Hub invited my besty-friend to tag along, so we of course chatted away...poor hubby. So anyhoo I just wanted to share a few pictures from that day, and make sure to tell my sweet Hub, thank you for THE best gift. Ever!

My business is moving away from family portraits to streamline my focus more towards weddings, so after doing a family session for dear friends with sweet SWEET kids...it makes it hard to know I won't be doing family shots any more. Only for close friends and newborn sessions. To the DeJohn Family, you guys were the BEST-so were your little ones. I totally squeezed more time out of you then I should ha ha and made Ryan do an extra work out AFTER his 6 mile run that day :) oops. I'm SO thankful that we have been able to meet up while we were living in California and am regretful it wasn't more often. Please know we have a room in Colorado itching to be used by guest/friends!! Thanks for the great photography session and hope you enjoy...

This wedding is near and dear to me because Jeff has been a friend of mine for years. Its also a wonderful story on how I was blessed to take pictures of Jeff and Vicky's wedding day!! Jeff had called me and asked me to be their photographer for their up coming wedding in April...well I would have left California by then and been in Colorado in April-so I had to decline since the wedding was in California. Matters changed, and Jeff and Vicky were now getting married months before they had originally planned! I got a phone call 3 days before their wedding but not from Jeff, but from a friend of Jeff-who decided to invited me to Jeff and Vicky's wedding because he knew I loved to take pictures and knew I was friends with Jeff. Apparently in the rush of moving, and getting a new job...Jeff had forgot to ask me about pictures again. His friend did not, so it worked perfectly and I was able to be there for their wedding day and capture a few images of the ceremony and a few sweet images of them as husband and wife!! Vicky, Jeff's now wife-is one of the cutest kindest and God loving woman I've ever meet. Jeff is a lucky guy!! Congrats Jeff and Vicky!!

Its February in California and spring is officially on us, well in the form of flowers. :) Recently I've been studying, and have had to take a break from photography... which I have realized is torturous for me!! I've had to put my camera down, say no to photography offers and hit the books. Well even with my Canon camera down, I can't seem to stay away from snapping photos. I take a picture with my iphone at LEAST once a day, and it never gets old. Well it might get old for all my facebook friends :) but its a creative outlet for me. Here are a few recent picture of the flowers that surround us in Lompoc, CA and a few cloud pictures from the summer. What ever means you have to be creative, embrace it!! You don't have to have a fancy camera you just have to be willing and get out and do it. ps most of these are from the Hipstamatic App and the Instagram love them!! ;)

My Fav is on the right... tomorrow I think I'm going to sneak out and take a few pictures with my big daddy camera, so i can blow up a huge picture and take it with me to Colorado!!

Stop and smell the flowers!!

Today was a LOOOOOONG hard day.... But then I took the boys for a walk, forgot about the rough day that was behind me and found beauty in the little things. This month has been a warm one, and all the fruit flowers are in bloom! I got lost in the flowers and ended taking snap shots with my iphone. Here is a shot below. Thanks to my friends and the Hub who reminded me to let silly things roll off my back, and thanks to God for creating such beauty all around us. I wish I "stopped and smelled the flowers" more. oh ps i'm thankful that my iphone camera app is so cool too! :)

We're Movin to Colorado!

So last week we went "house hunting"...because come March we will be moving to Colorado. We ended up buying a new home, and just today we got word that our builder "Bob the builder" (awesome guy) broke ground!! Thx Michelle Wilkerson for today's e-mail. Here are a few pictures from our trip...the above pictures are our lot, and the pictures below are the house model pictures.

Here's our fabulous Realtor Shelly Lazzaro from Sellstate Alliance Realty, checking out the fridge :) I missed an awesome shot of her jumping in front of the camera, so this is the only shot of her :)

The day before we left, we visited Garden of the Gods, it was beautiful.

Well our FIRST boy Magnus ver Magnusson is ONE years old!!! Boy did time fly by! I remember when we first got him, and how we didn't sleep...for weeks!! We taught him all wrong, and learned things the hard way. But everything was worth it, because he has turned out to be such a sweet pup-even with our neglectful parenting :) Below are some pictures of Magnus and his sister Nali. Yes, cake and hats...for the dogs ha ha. My friend Kara knows how to have a party for the pooches! Shortly after we got Magnus, we got Thor. My excuse was, we needed to keep Magnus company...truth was, I had baby puppy fever. Anyway, Thor and I took a mini trip to SLO recently and so I took some "glamor" shot of him just for fun. :)

A Girl in A Chair Photography Workshop

Yesterday I had the pleasure attending a unique one-of-a-kind workshop! This was my very first workshop, and I couldn't be more impressed. It was called "A Girl in A Chair Photography Workshop" hosted and lead by Thea Lignos, Cathryn Vanbreene and Jasmine Star (and her hubby, JD). If you're a photographer, and unless you live under a rock, you know who Jasmine Star is and you know why I was supper excited to attend this workshop. She has revolutionized the way photographers do business, do photography and do networking...what an exciting time to be a photographer. Jasmine and JD couldn't be any cooler or SWEETER!! Even with them being in such high demand and high visibility, these two are still supper FUN totally humble and always aim to exceed peoples expectations. Whether it be a client or the sales man at home depot. Fame and popularity don't seem to get to their heads, and the stories I heard about them from other photographers at the workshop--blew my mind. Nothing but wonderful stories of Jasmine and JD!

Now onto Thea Lignos and Cathryn Vanbreene, they are like salt and sugar...and I'm not sure which ones which...I think they can be both. They are the backbone for the "Your Wedding Day" Magazine. Now I will be honest, I'm SUPPER picky about magazine covers, but I remember the first time a YWD Magazine laid eyes on me, after our eyes meet...I did a double take. Me: "oooo look at the font, look at that image." YWDmag: "Buy me!" Me: "Okay" The rest is history. SO to see the woman behind YWD Magazine, was a treat! A salty sugary treat!. The behind the scene details, hearing their stories, and to know how much work they put into the selection of the pages we flip through...made my day. It sky rocketed the value of the magazine and made me thankful for their hard work. Thea and Cathryn 100% balance each other out, and also stimulate each other to push further, harder and be more creative. It shows. Thank you gals!!

The workshop wouldn't be half of what it was, without the AMAZING photographers I meet. I listed a few photographers that I had the pleasure to talk to and included the pictures I took of each of them (well minus Vitaliy, I didn't get a shot of him and stole his picture from FB). I also have a snap shot of each of their personal websites or blogs. I also included a little blurb about each of them below...

OMGosh Ashley Bee (and hubby) were SO cute, SO super friendly and oober talented. They are parents, ex-band members, worship singers at church, Christians, graphic designer, and photographers and HELLO Ashley's only 27!! You don't meet sweet people like this very often, and when I meet them and talked to them most of the night--I KNEW they were a rare gem of a couple. I see an even bigger, more promising future for their business, and their budding family!! I'm already really impressed, but I know this is not it for them, and their current and future clients can only expect best and cooler everything. By the way, LOVE the videos on your site, and your daughter Rhyan melts my hear. It was a pleasure to meet you Ashley and can't wait to see pictures of your new bambino!! Love ya girl!

Karen Stott! She's the kinda woman that walks into the room, and everyone looks at her. She's beautiful, and has a larger then live presents about her. AND has a smoking HOT PINK get-up that matches her personality :) Bold! Karen, it was a blast hearing how you came from a hard start in networking with other photographers, to a completely awesome friendship with a local Oregon photographer and still don't hold a negative attitude, but took the lack of help as a challenge. And won! I can't wait to see what magic you continue to make in your business and I'm glad I meet you!

Stephanie Branch Saul Ok I still think Stephanie is lying about her age, there is NO WAY she's... well anyway, if she tells you anything other then age 25, don't believe her! ha ha This gorgeous girl, is soft spoken, but powerful. She knows what she wants, AND after this workshop she is unstoppable. I watch her grow in her confidence, right before my eyes. We had chatted the night before the workshop, at dinner, and then again after the workshop...and it honestly was night and day on her own self-believe. I'm excited for you Stephanie!! I'm excited for your future clients!! PS I LOVED your hat, I want one. LOL

Holli True Poor Holli!! She had to sit next to me the night before the workshop, and I just kept yapping in her ear and I was WAY to loud and way to excited about the workshop, about Jasmine, about her business cards. I was out of control!! But she would just keep looking over at me, with her HUGE adorable dimple, and nod her head in agreement--probably thinking, this lady is crazy. She had this contagious energy about her, and is the kinda girl that sees the glass half full! She was bubbling at the workshop, when learning new techniques with her 50mm 1.8 and her smile could light up a room. Stuff like that, was what made this workshop so fulfilling, and photographers like Holli make me thankful--because I know she's bringing love and life into clients lives!!

Jessica Lester-Frey I love this girl!! She's supper cute, super fun and the kinda girl that you instantly feel like your best friends with. She just gets you! Her photography business is ready to launch into the next level--she has a new website and tons of new projects lined up!! I wish you the best with all them, and make sure to keep us Lompoc small town photographers updated!! I'm keeping you accountable! I challenge you to push the envelope! I mean you did drag a couch into the field by yourself! But really, I expect big things from you!

Matthew Cotter Becker!! Okay Matt is not Becker, but he sound like him, looks like him and I can see him having tons of fans, just like Becker. Matt's the kinda guy that you hope pick you first for the kick ball team...you want to be with that cool guy. Matt...how can I say it, is smooth. A bunch of photographers went to dinner both nights, before and after the workshop...and as I spazzed out asking random questions a million miles a minute...he would pause and neutralize my spazzness, with a deep thought or a calming response. Not to mention, the few sneak peaks I got to see in his camera (from his trusty 70-200) were HOT! I'm excited to see this TV world guy-turned photographers blow us away! Nice meeting you Mr. Smooth. Best of luck with your wedding, and marriage!! Can't wait to see the pictures!

Vitaliy Prokopets I saved the best for last. Vitaliy is one of these guys that you wish were family--for real! Not only does he have a cool accent, but he has this totally genuine personality and kindness towards people. I bet you all his clients ended up as friends for ever! I haven't had the pleasure of meeting his wife, but by his description, she's not only beautiful but probably what makes him who his is. Anyway, not only are your images amazing, and your business skills sharp, but you made a mark on my life in just the short time we meet...I can only hope that our paths cross again. I know your business has taken off, and there's no looking back! Bravo.

Ha ha :) We had to keep it a secret from her boyfriend because it was a gift for their 1 year anniversary!! Its hard keeping this gift from your BFF, but it was well worth it. I had the pleasure of shadowing Beth Armsheimer on this beautiful wedding. The wedding's detail was amazing, and I couldn't stop snapping away at all the wonderful trinkets and flowers. The flowers were AMAZING and done by Adornments. Since I was a second shooter for Beth, I don't meet the bride or groom till the day of...well by the time we left the wedding, I felt like I had known them for years. A wedding is such a fun emotional time, and its such an honor to be able to capture the behind the scene moments, and the excited looks and anticipation of getting married.

I had the pleasure of shadowing Linda Chaja. This wedding took place at the Santa Inez Mission and the reception was on Shelley's family farm.

You can't see her... but Shelley is hiding behind her dad. I think he made a good cover for her, the intimidating look and all! :) But as you can see later, with the father daughter dance, he is sweet as a button!

Today I noticed the yellow flowers that popped up behind our condo...and went out to take a few shots, and found a lady bug. If you know me, you know I like every beast of the earth and creeping things. If you live near, it is worth the stop...there are thousands of them! They leave early March.

My good friends Mike has made a Christian CD. Below are scanned pictures of his cover. His wife designed the cover with the pictures I took a few months ago at the mission. They are a wonderful God centered family that just wants to serve the Lord. If you are interested in buying this CD, the link is below.

"I've come to realize, after looking over the songs the Lord has brought forth in me, that most of them are directly related to Identity. God has spent the last couple years revealing who I am in His eyes, according to His Word, His character and His name: Father. I spent much of the first couple years of my faith struggling with a competitive and comparative spirit, and a religious and critical spirit. I tried to earn God's love through service, ministry and devotion. I judged others and elevated myself through comparison so I could be more at peace in my standing with God. I now know that Satan had me in defeat with those lies. True peace comes from who I am in God's eyes, regardless of circumstances, personal effort, ministries, others, or even my sin.
The Blessed Spirit has taught and shown me the reality of my position in Christ Jesus. I am forgiven; I am righteous through Him; I am a child of my father; I am a prince in His kingdom; I am a saint by His blood; there truly is "now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Father loves us as we are and nothing can separate us from that love (Rom. 8:28.39). That's a glorious truth of the gospel. What's done is done; and we whom the Son has set free are Free Indeed.
